Job Summary
Provide functional leadership for a pod of 4-5 Forward Deployed Product Managers embedded across client implementations
Set the operating standard for how requirements, prototypes, and workflow decisions get made across every active deployment
Act as the escalation point between the FDPM pod, Technical Account Managers, implementation engineering, and core product
Turn scattered patterns across deployments into a shared playbook and a steady feed of learnings back into the core product
Not a reporting-line manager; the pod's people management sits with the Director of Product
Responsibilities
Functional Leadership & Standards: Set and enforce high quality bars for requirements, prototypes, and documentation across the pod. Review and sanity-check briefs and workflows before they reach clients or engineering.
Escalation & Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve as the primary escalation point between the FDPM pod, Technical Account Managers, implementation engineering, and core product leads. Unblock FDPMs on complex or contested requirements.
Playbook & Product Feedback Loop: Build and maintain a shared operational playbook (templates, workflow patterns, prompting approaches). Identify recurring deployment patterns to drive structured feedback directly into the core product roadmap.
Pod Capacity & Hands-On Support: Coordinate staffing and workload across active deployments, flagging capacity gaps to the Director of Product. Step into active client deployments directly when stakes are high or team members are out.
Leadership Reporting: Surface pod-wide progress, metrics, and operational blockers to product and delivery leadership.
Qualifications and Job Requirements
Product & Execution Focused: Strong balance of product mindset and hands-on execution; leads through influence, authority-by-expertise, and example rather than formal management authority.
Systems & Pattern Thinker: Skilled at spotting recurring trends across distinct client contexts and translating them into scalable, generalized solutions.
Technical & Curious: Hands-on with modern AI tools, workflow design, prompting, and rapid prototyping—capable of critically reviewing others' technical output.
Dual-Level Operator: Seamlessly shifts between high-level pod strategy and granular execution within a single deployment on the same day.
Builds practical structure and standards where none exist, and successfully drives peer adoption.
Demonstrates high ownership, strong judgment with incomplete information, and a decisive bias to action.
Knows when to step in to solve a problem and when to step back to let an FDPM own the outcome.
Excellent cross-functional communicator across technical, non-technical, client-facing, and executive audiences.
Experience as a Forward Deployed PM, Solutions Consultant, Implementation Lead, or Technical Services Lead within SaaS, AI, or startup environments.
Proven track record leading initiatives, workstreams, or informal teams in fast-paced, client-facing settings (direct people management is not required).
